One day, while browsing the internet, I came across an announcement from EducationUSA about their Competitive College Club (CCC). The program was looking for ambitious students eager to study in the U.S. The idea immediately caught my attention, and I decided to apply. After successfully passing the first selection round, I was invited for an interview in the second stage. In July, I received the life-changing news—I had been accepted! The excitement was beyond words.

Over the course of a year, CCC became my gateway to understanding the U.S. college admissions process. We learned the intricacies of application systems, how to craft compelling essays, and the importance of showcasing our unique strengths. Every session was packed with valuable insights that brought us closer to our dream schools.

One of the most fascinating aspects of CCC was meeting representatives from various U.S. universities. Sometimes, they visited us in person, while other times, we connected online. These sessions gave us firsthand knowledge about different institutions, their programs, and what they look for in applicants. Additionally, we explored American traditions, learning about holidays and cultural nuances that make student life in the U.S. so unique.

Beyond academics, CCC emphasized the value of giving back. In September, we took part in a community clean-up near Hazi Aslanov metro station. Later, during the summer, we volunteered at GWARF, an animal shelter, helping take care of rescued animals. Another memorable experience was assisting at an event where multiple U.S. universities presented their programs. We played a crucial role in making sure everything ran smoothly, interacting with visitors and university representatives alike.

CCC wasn’t just about applications and academics—it was a space for personal growth. We had a Book Club where we analyzed and discussed books over two weeks, diving deep into different themes and ideas. In the Discussion Club, we sharpened our speaking and debating skills, preparing for the kind of intellectual engagement expected at U.S. colleges.

To immerse ourselves further in American culture, we celebrated major U.S. holidays. Halloween, Christmas, and other festive occasions became opportunities to bond, have fun, and experience traditions that one day might become part of our college lives.

I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to Jala Akhundova and Ramila Verdiyeva for their dedication and support throughout this program. Their guidance and encouragement made this experience truly invaluable, and I am incredibly grateful for the opportunities they provided.
